Seasons Greetings,
As we look forward to the holiday season, I am looking back on 2020. Little did we know in February what was going to be changing our world. COVID-19 has changed our world like no other. Our fellow technologist has been working the front-line working side by side with all the other medical professionals saving lives and making a difference. To those technologists we say thank you and God bless you for all you give and share.
Our 2020 Annual Conference was canceled. We installed our new board members via a Go to Meeting. We were able to have the summer board meeting in Bloomington. During those two days we accomplished much for the better of the ISSRT. We made new friends and said goodbye to some “old” friends. We thank them for all their dedication that they have given to the ISSRT. Our fall board meeting was also held via Go to Meeting. The one big event that brought technologist together throughout the state was National Radiologic Technologist Week. And, what a week it was. The committee did an amazing job preparing a weeks’ worth of activities. We even received a proclamation from the Mayor of Chicago. As you can see even with COVID-19 we made great strides in meeting the needs of the ISSRT. With a vaccine on the horizon we look forward to things getting back to some normalcy in 2021. The 2021 Annual Conference Committee is hard at work preparing a better than ever conference. And, it will be good to see each other again and just have fun………
However, you celebrate the holidays please take time to enjoy the moment. Reach out to a friend that you haven’t seen in a while. Sit down with your family and just appreciate the love of family. And, remember those that have no one to share the holidays with or financial funds to meet their needs.
From our family to yours Happy Holidays-Merry Christmas and Happy 2021 New Year!
Patrick Murphy, ISSRT President
